What We Do

The My Biggest Fan Foundation is a non-profit organization based out of Stratford, Prince Edward Island, created by current NHL Hockey Player, Zack MacEwen, and his family to honour the legacy of the late Craig MacEwen.

We offer support for hockey players and their families, in the form of:

  • Scholarships for hockey schools, post-secondary education, and camps.

  • Financial support for hockey registrations and tournaments.

  • Equipment for players in need of support.

We are fortunate to help families across Canada, with a focus on areas that Zack MacEwen has played throughout his hockey career. This includes Prince Edward Island, Amherst, Moncton, Gatineau.

The My Biggest Fan Foundation raises funds in a variety of ways, including but not limited to golf tournaments, corporate initiatives, donations, etc.

Why We Do It

Like many other little boys, when Zack was younger all he ever wanted to do was play in the NHL. To many people this may have seemed impossible, but not to the MacEwens. Juliana and Craig believed in their son and instilled in him the importance of hard work and dedication. "If you work hard, anything is possible," they would tell him.

Zack loved practicing and working hard, but games were always his favourite. After every game Zack would ask, "Mom, how did I play?" Upon receiving Juliana's supportive answer, he would turn to his father and ask, "Dad, how did I really play?" Craig was always there to provide an honest answer, letting his son know what he did right alongside ways he could improve.

Over the years, as Zack moved closer towards realizing his dream, Craig was always by his side supporting him along the way. As many parents know, this meant working as an early morning chauffeur for practices, games, and tournaments. Craig called before and after each game to show his support. He arranged road trips with his friends to watch Zack play - even driving from PEI to Utica, NY, and back. He would drop everything to travel by plane, train, and automobile to get to wherever his son was playing that night.

The MacEwen's years were filled with countless hours at the arena, spending a great deal of money in order to put both of their boys through hockey and support Zack's dream. We know it is not always easy or possible for families to have their children play hockey. This is why we wanted to do what we could to help.

Our Biggest Fan

In Memoriam

In May of 2020, Craig MacEwen experienced a devastating stroke that took him from his family and friends far too soon. While working through the grief of this significant loss, the MacEwen family wanted to create something that would honour Craig's legacy forever.

Craig loved both of his boys, supported their dreams, and instilled in them the importance of hard work, dedication, and being a good man. Craig always carried a smile, had time for a chat, and offered to lend a kind ear. He loved to help people, often passing the boys' outgrown hockey equipment to whoever needed it. It did not matter what it was, Craig would give what he had quietly and without hesitation.

The My Biggest Fan Foundation has been created in Craig MacEwen's memory. We are honoured to be able to help hockey players and their families, just as Craig did for so many years.

Craig was and forever will be his sons' biggest fan.
